Spring Snowflake

Flowering January-April. Bulbous perennial. Garden escape.

Nodding bell-shaped white flowers with green or yellow tips to tepals. Usually one, occasionally two flowers to each stem. Pale seeds. Erect glossy, dark-green leaves, strap-like. Height: Flower-stalks to 40cm, leaves to 30cm.

Damp soils, prefers partial shade. Rarely recorded as a garden escape, can be confused with Summer Snowflake, L. aestivum.
