Flowering June - August. Annual. Native.

Erect spikes of pale blue flowers, small, narrow bracts at base of flower stalks.
Fruit barely notched, slightly longer than broad. Opposite stalkless leaves, short toothed or entire. Erect plant, almost hairless. Height to 30cm.

Frequent in wet ground by streams and ponds, and in marshes, shallow ditches.
Hybrids occur with Pink Water-speedwell, V. catenata
