Flowering time: June-August. Usually annual. Native.

Pink flowers, 4-petalled, reddish veins not reaching petal edges.
Flower-stalks shorter than bracts. Notched fruit.
Unstalked linear-lanceolate leaves, scarcely toothed.
Creeping and ascending stems. Height: To 30cm.

Found in shallow standing or slow-moving water, muddy pond-edges.
Throughout Ireland except SW and NW.
