Flowering May-August. Perennial. Possibly introduced.

Bell-like flowers, usually cream or white. Occasionally bluish, pink or purple. Pointed calyx teeth, equalling or longer than tube. Smooth, shiny nutlets. Stalkless leaves, basal largest, upper continuing down winged stem. Rough-hairy. Height 50-150cm.

Shady, damp ground. Roadsides, riverbanks. Most frequent N and central Ireland.
