White Dogwood
Cornus alba
Family: Cornaceae

Flowering: May-July. Deciduous shrub. Introduced, garden escape.

Umbels of small creamy-white flowers, appearing after leaves.
Fruit round, white-cream in colour. Cornus sanguinea has black fruit.
Leaves opposite, green, deep reddish in autumn. Larger leaves with 6 or 7 pairs
of lateral veins. Winter bark of first year twigs is usually bright-red. Does not sucker extensively. Height: To 3m.

Often planted but a very infrequent garden escape.
