Cow Parsley Long-stalked umbels of white flowers, 8-12 rays. Smooth shiny fruit. No bracts. Broad bracteoles, deflexed, often pinkish. Leaves appearing from September, over-wintering. Fern-like, triangular, 3-pinnate with pointed segments. Hairy. Erect stems hollow, grooved, unspotted. Height: 70-120 cm Abundant, roadsides, hedgebanks, wood edges. Similar: Fools Parsley, Aethusa cynapium. Smaller, flowers July-August. Hemlock, Conium maculatum. Purple-spotted stems, unpleasant smell.
