Twiggy Mullein Spikes of yellow flowers with purple-haired anthers, 2-5 in each cluster. Flower stalks usually shorter than calyx, 2 decurrent anthers, 3 fixed. Leaves unstalked/short-stalked, oblong-lanceolate, blunt-toothed, hairless. Flower spike often branched at base. Glandular-hairy plant. Waste ground, grassland, roadsides, quarries. Infrequent, mainly found S and SW Ireland. Similar: Moth Mullein, V. blattaria. One flower at each node, flower stalks longer than calyx. Rare. |
