Tiny green flowers with 2 stigmas at the base of upper leaves.
Fleshy green leaves, linear, pointed, flushing purple then red.
Branched, erect or sprawing plant. Very variable. Height/spread: To 60 cm.

Coastal, salt-marshes, mud-flats, sand, shingle. Frequent.
