Very tiny flowers in leaf axils, with 5 sepals, pair of bracts.
Succulent leaves, narrow, rounded, 1-4 cm long, tapering to spine at tip.
Branched somewhat woody stems, striped reddish or green.
More/less prostrate, prickly plant.
Height/spread: 20-40 cm.

Coastal. Found on drift-line of sand, shingle beaches.
Most frequent on E, SE, NW Irish coasts.
