Tiny flowers in dense, often leafy spikes. Fruiting bracteoles triangular, weakly toothed. Stalked leaves triangular or hastate, two right-angled basal lobes.
Leaves green, slightly mealy, reddish as plant matures.
Ridged stems usually prostrate or spreading. Height: 10-130cm

Frequent near coast, rare inland. Waste ground, sea shores.
