Marsh Woundwort Spikes of pink-purple flowers, white pattern on lower lip. Occasionally white. Leaves oblong-lanceolate, fine-toothed, almost stalk-less. Slightly pungent smell. Hairy stems, leaves. Grows from underground rhizomes. Height: 30-90cm. Frequent. Damp and wet ground. Streamsides, ditches, fields, roadsides. Native. Similar: Hedge woundwort, S. sylvatica. Rounder, hairy leaves, more pungent smell. Deep red-purple flowers. Hybrids occur. |
