Small yellow flowers in dense racemes. Hairless flower buds. Ascending fruits, slender style 2-3.5 mm. Deep-green shiny leaves, pinnately-lobed. Terminal segment longer, broader. Upper stem leaves entire, toothed, or lobed to less than halfway to midrib. Hairless. Branched erect stems, strong tap-root. 30-90cm.

Frequent. Damp ground. Roadsides, waste ground, paths, streamsides.
