Mentha x piperita (Mentha aquatica x M. spicata)

Flowering time: July-September. Perennial. Introduced.

Hybrid between Water Mint, M. aquatica and Spearmint, M. spicata.
Lilac-purple flowers in terminal spikes. Calyx tube and leaves almost hairless.
Stalked leaves, oval-lanceolate, usually toothed. Peppermint-scented.
Erect, often reddish stems. Very variable. Height: To 90cm.

Damp ground, streamsides, wet roadsides.
Occasional garden escape.
