Dense terminal spikes of pinky-mauve flowers. Stamens protruding.
Leaves lanceolate or narrow-ovate, more/less un-stalked.
More/less hairless plant. Strongly aromatic. Rhizomatus. Height: To 90cm.

Damp or wet ground. Waste ground, roadsides, usually near habitation.
Occasional garden escape.
