Hedge Bedstraw Small white 4-petalled flowers in terminal clusters. Weak-stemmed, scrambling plant, 4-angled smooth stem. Smooth black fruit. There are 6-8 narrow leaves in each whorl with forward pointing prickles on the leaf edges. Single-veined. Plant hairless or slightly downy. Height: 30-100cm Occasional, mainly found hedge-banks, grassland. Similar: Marsh-bedstraw, G. palustre. Native, common throughout Ireland. |
