Flowering June - July. Perennial, floating aquatic. Native.
Solitary, whitish flowers without a perianth. Rarely flowers, flowers are minute and easily overlooked. Plant usually +/- opaque, flat on both sides, obovate, asymetrical with 3-5 veins. Single long root.

Widespread, very common in damp or wet habitats; slow-moving or still water in ponds, lakes and ditches. Easily spreads on the feet of birds.
