Flowering July - September. Perennial. Native.

Much-branched, erect inflorescence with crowded whorls of flowers. Inner tepals have short teeth at the base of long wart. Large, pointed, lanceolate-oval leaves, to 100cm length. Height to 200cm.

Grows in shallow water in fens and ditches and beside lakes, ponds, canals and rivers. Can colonise bare ground in fens and marshes.
