Ground-ivy Whorls of mauve-blue, occasionally pink, 2-lipped flowers. Sometimes purple spots on throat, lower lip. Calyx 5-toothed. Stalked leaves, cordate, blunt-toothed. Erect flower stalks. Hairy plant. Trailing or creeping stems, rooting. Height varies with habitat, taller in rich, damp soils. 10-25cm. Frequent on both dry and damp ground. Woods, waste ground, hedges. Similar: Variegated Ground-ivy. Garden escape. |
