Flowering July-September. Perennial. Native.

Solitary white flowers with transluscent veins. Five stamens alternating with branched, broad-based staminoides. Long-stalked basal leaves, heart-shaped. Single leaf near centre of stem, clasping. Short rhizome. Height 15-40cm.

Grows in base-rich flushes, damp grassland, fens, marshes. Mainly found in West and central Ireland.
