Pipewort Terminal head of numerous tiny whitish-grey flowers on erect, leafless, ridged stems. Flower stems vary in height depending on water depth, to 150cm. Submerged basal rosette of linear, transluscent leaves, finely pointed. On peat or inorganic substrates, lake edges, bog-pools. Grows permanently submerged or on ground that is often exposed. Local, west coast of Ireland, usually lowland, but at 300m in Glen Lough, W. Cork. |
