Sweet-briar Bright-pink flowers followed by scarlet hips with some stalked glands. Sepals with some lobes, spreading-erect, usually persisting. Undersides of leaves with apple-scented glands, hairs on veins. Curved prickles. Strong erect stems, 1-2m. Found on calcareous ground, in hedgerows and scrub. Rare, widespread but scattered distribution in Ireland. Identification by Paul Green |
