Soft Downy-rose Flowers usually pink, pedicels short with some stiff glandular hairs. Sepals entire, erect, persistent. Red hips with stalked glands. Leaves with large leaflets, softly-hairy on both sides. Straight prickles. Erect suckering growth, to 1.5m+. One of earliest roses flowering. Avoids very acidic ground. Woods, hedges, roadsides. Mainly found in N of Ireland, also recorded from Co. Waterford. Identification by Paul Green |
