Sea-buckthorn Tiny green flowers, 2 sepals, no petals. Followed by orange berries. Narrow leaves covered with silvery-brown scales. Dense branches with strong spikes. Self-seeds, also spreads rapidly by suckers. Can form dense thickets. Height 1-3m. Coastal on sandy ground, cliffs and dunes. Planted to stabilise loose dunes, now naturalised in some areas and can be a threat to native vegetation. |
