Bears-breeches
Acanthus mollis
Family: Acanthaceae

Flowering June-August. Perennial. Garden escape. Introduced.

Tall spikes of hooded, tubular white and purplish flowers.
Large glossy leaves, deep-divided. Deep roots, suckering. Spreads by seed and root fragments. Height: flower spikes to 1.7m.

Well-drained moist soil in sun or shade. Occasional garden escape or discard.
