Cabbage-palm Large heads of small creamy-white flowers produced by mature plants. Seeds freely. Long, narrow leaves in rosettes at the top of each stem. Single stem, dividing into much-branched crown with age. Stem develops into leafless trunk, can reach 10-15m. Frost tender, but hardy in mild, coastal areas. Frequently planted in gardens, amenity areas. Self-sown in pavement cracks, also on waste ground. Most frequently recorded from the Dublin area. |
