Flowering June - September. Annual or perennial. Garden escape. Introduced.

Silky golden-yellow or orange flowers, solitary on long stalks. Fruit is a many-seeded slender capsule. Blue-green leaves alternate, branched, hairless. Can be perennial in mild, frost-free areas, otherwise annual, self seeds freely.

Disturbed, sandy, well-drained, infertile ground. Needs full sun. Occasional garden escape or discard on roadsides, waste ground.
