Lesser Celandine / Bulbous Celandine
Ranunculus ficaria ssp. bulbilifer

Flowering February-May. Perennial. Native.

Very similar to Ranunculus ficaria ssp. ficaria. but often has less flowers with narrower petals and more/less shallow-lobed leaves. Produces little ripe seed, main reproduction is by small tubers formed in the leaf-axils.

Usually found on more disturbed ground than ssp. ficaria. Woodland, stream and riversides, gardens. Most records are from S, E, NE and central Ireland, but it is very under-recorded.
