Over 20 species of Eyebright are recorded for Ireland and Britain.
All taxa in this area are included in the Euphrasia officinalis agg. They are very similar, frequently hybridise and require expert identification.

General: Flowering time June-September. Annual. Native. Semi-parasitic.
Leafy spikes of white / mauve flowers with yellow blotch and purple/black streaks. Leaves usually opposite, more/less oval, deep-toothed, hairy or hairless.
Leaf-like bracts. A short, more/less branched plant that is found throughout Ireland. Can be locally frequent in some areas.
