Flowering March-October. Annual. Introduced.

Very small green flowers, clusters of female flowers, male flowers in more/less erect spikes. Many stamens. Produces very long-lived seed. Short-stalked bright green leaves, toothed. Stems branched from base, leaves and stems usually hairless.

Prefers disturbed, light, nutrient-rich soils. Waste ground, gardens, roadsides, usually near habitation. Widespread in Co. Dublin, also found in Cork city, scattered distribution elsewhere in S and E Ireland.
