Crab-apple Clusters of long-stalked flowers, 5-petalled, pinky-white. Flower stalks and outside of calyx hairless. Small, sour fruit, green ripening yellow. Small-toothed oval-lanceolate leaves, hairless underneath. Height: To 10m. Throughout Ireland, less frequent in West. Woods, hedgerows. Similar: Apple, M. domesticus. Calyx, flower stalks, underside of leaves hairy. Larger fruit. Garden escape. |
