Flowering: June-July. Evergreen perennial. Introduced. Garden escape.

Tiny green-white flowers in dense round heads. Brown seedheads, 4 barbed spines, usually 3.5 - 6mm, often one or two shorter. Evergreen leaves, matt-green on upperside, often bronze-brown veins, edges. Top leaflets 1.2 - 2 x long as wide. Prostrate, rapid-spreading growth, resistant to trampling.

Rare garden escape. Dry, open ground, roadsides, paths.
