Squinancywort Small pinkish or white flowers, 4-petalled. vanilla scented. Fruit is pair of slightly rough nutlets. Whorls of 4 narrow linear-lanceolate leaves, at least the upper whorls with two long and two short leaves. Branched 4-angled stems. Hairless. Slender, variable plant with prostrate/sprawling growth habit. 10-25cm. Grows on calcareous ground. Dunes, rocky grassland, sand-hills. Mainly W, SW Ireland. |
