Flowering time: June-November. Annual, biennial or short-lived perennial.

Clusters of tiny greenish-white flowers, red-edged. 5-petalled.
Glossy brown nut, longer than calyx.
Elliptical green-grey leaves, slightly rolled back edges.
Sprawling stems, often woody at base. Prostrate growth habit.

Coastal on sand and shingle beaches, usually above highest tide level.
Scattered distribution. Native.
