Sea Pea

Flowering time: June-August. Long-lived perennial. Native.

Purple-pink flowers with paler keel, fading to blue-mauve. 5-15 flowers in each raceme. Blunt, grey-green, slightly fleshy broad leaflets, 2-5 pairs per leaf, hairless. Usually with tendrils. Angled stems. Prostrate or sprawling, to 100cm.

Coastal, found on shingle, blown sand, sand-dunes. Mainly on coasts of SW Ireland. Protected species.
