Flowering: June-August. Evergreen perennial. Native.

Small creamy yellow-green flowers, 5-petalled. Fruit is small black berry.
Prickly dark-green leaves, shiny, lanceolate, evergreen. 4-6 in whorl.
4-angled strong stems, prickly. Vigorous clambering plant.
Spread: To 1.5m.

Usually coastal, cliffs, walls, scrub, hedgebanks. Occasionally found inland
on calcareous soils. S, SW, W Ireland.
