Flat umbels of white flowers. Inner flowers are fertile, outer are sterile.
Slightly scented. Red fruit, poisonous.
Leaves palmately-lobed, toothed, opposite. Scaly buds. Height: To 4m

Damp habitats, but also found on dryer ground. Woods, scrubland,
hedgerows. Native, also frequently planted in gardens and hedges.
