Common Cornsalad

Flowering time: April-September. Winter annual. Native.

Very small blue, pinkish or blue-white 5-lobed flowers in terminal clusters.
Hairless ovoid fruit, shallow groove on one side. Almost as wide as long.
Spoon-shaped, stalked lower leaves, upper leaves oblong. More or less hairless plant. Branched, spreading stems. Height: 10-30cm.

Poor, disturbed ground. Coastal, dunes, sandy grassland, shingle. Also inland, railway tracks, walls, rock outcrops. Growth more compact on dry ground.
Less frequent in C and W Ireland.
