Blue-violet flowers with straight, darker spur. Narrow upper petals.
Un-branched purple veins on lower petals. Height: 4-20 cm.
Leaves and stipules narrower than in Common Dog-violet.

Dry deciduous woods, hedge banks. Prefers shady calcareous ground.

Similar: Common Dog-violet, V. riviniana.
Spur paler than petals. Branched veins on petals.
