Flowering: February-April. Deciduous shrub or small tree. Introduced.

White flowers in loose spikes, appear at same time as leaves.
Glossy pale green leaves. Twigs are thornless, green then reddish.
Globular fruits, yellow or red, not formed every year.

Roadsides, hedgerows.

Similar: Blackthorn, P. spinosa.
Very thorny. Flowers are smaller, appear before leaves.
Usually flowers 2-3 weeks later than Cherry Plum.
