Welsh Poppy Large bright yellow flowers. Hairless club-shaped seed capsule. Pinnate leaves, long stalks on lower leaves. Slightly hairy. Plant contains yellow latex. Strong taproot. Garden escapes seed freely. Height: 20-40cm. Damp shady woodland and rocky ledges. Native, mainly north Ireland, also Co's Waterford, Limerick. Garden escape other areas, usually near habitation. Similar: Yellow-horned Poppy, Glaucium flavum
