Flowering: June-September. Biennial. Garden escape. Introduced.

Large pale yellow flowers, 40-50mm diameter. Anthers equal stigmas. Greenish sepals. Erect rigid stems, green at top, no red-based hairs. Broad lanceolate leaves in basal rosette, stalk-less stem leaves. Slightly scented. 60-120cm

Open ground on sandy soils. Waste ground, railway embankments, roadsides.
Naturalised garden escape. Much hybridisation.
