Meadow Crane's-bill Pairs of violet-blue flowers, 5-petalled, paler veins. Fruit smooth, downy. Pedicels (flowerstalks) drooping as fruit ripens. Leaves round to kidney-shaped, deeply lobed, lobes jagged-toothed. Short rhizome. Downy plant. Height to 70cm. Calcareous soils, grassland, roadsides. Native in County Antrim, introduced in other parts of Ireland. Sometimes included in wildflower seed mixtures. Found as a garden escape on roadsides Co. Waterford. |
