Broom Solitary bright yellow flowers in leaf-axils. Followed by hairy seedpods. Pods black when ripe, split explosively. Small leaves usually with 3 oval leaflets. Erect green branches. Height: 1-2m Widespread throughout Ireland on dry acidic heathland. C. scoparius ssp. maritimus: Prostrate. Coastal, exposed cliffs. Counties Cork, Kerry, Dublin. |
