Long-stalked trifoliate leaves, raised above water.
Creeping submerged stems and rootstock. Height: 12-30 cm
Food plant for Elephant Hawkmoth caterpillars

Ponds, fens and bogs in shallow muddy water. Frequent in most
parts of Ireland.
