Marsh Violet Pale lilac flowers with darker purple veins, blunt petals. Style truncate at top. Hairless seed capsule. Long-stalked circular to kidney-shaped leaves, all basal. Creeping rhizome. Height: 8-15 cm. Very frequent N, W, S Ireland. Wet acidic ground, marshes, bogs, woods. Drainage reducing frequency. Similar: Fen Violet, V. persicifolia |
