Oblong-leaved Sundew Small white flowers on curving stalks laterally from basal rosette of leaves. Narrow spoon-shaped leaves almost as long as flower stem, covered with sticky red hairs. These trap and digest insects to supplement nitrate intake. Locally frequent. Wet peat, bogs. Found N, W, SW. Absent in E of Ireland. Similar: Great Sundew, D. anglica. Longer leaves, flower-stalks from centre of basal leaf rosette. |
