Common Sorrel Small red/pink flowers in loose upright spikes. Red, strong-keeled fruiting sepals. Arrow-shaped leaves, 5-12cm long. Basal lobes parallel to stem or in-curving. Erect branched stems. Height: 35-80cm. Abundant. Roadsides, grassland, gardens. R. acetosa ssp. hibernicus. Short stems, compact inflorescence. Fleshy leaves with very short stiff hairs. On sand-dunes on W and S Irish coasts. |
