Primrose Usually solitary pale yellow scented flowers on hairy stalks. Stalks to 15cm. Pink forms occur occasionally. Leaves in basal rosette, wrinkled, undersides hairy. Prefers damp, slightly acid soils. Woods, hedgebanks, meadows, road sides. Locally frequent, scarcer further north and in mountainous areas. Similar: Cowslip, P. veris. Long stalks, drooping yellow flowers. Frequent Central Ireland, rare in NE and SW. |
