Montbretia Terminal spikes of bright orange flowers, funnel-shaped. Strap-like leaves, shorter than flower stems. Leaves die down in winter and give protection to the corms. Height: To 100 cm Woods, dry banks, roadsides. Locally abundant in S and W Ireland, occasional elsewhere. Naturalised garden escape. Similar: Potts' Montbretia, Crocosmia pottsii |
