Flowering May - June. Deciduous. Native.

Flattish heads of white flowers followed by globular red fruit with persistent sepals. Oval leaves, white-hairy beneath, toothed except at base. Teeth +/- symetrical. Shrub or small tree. Very variable.

Endemic to Ireland. Occasional, mainly found in central and SE Ireland on calcareous soils in woods, rocky area's and cliffs.
